Switchin' it up

My names Nat and I'm a tattoo artist living in Miami. I've always loved fashion from a very young age so creating this brand was no surprise. We used to be called Unruly. I guess that name wasn't original enough, and too many posers popped up with new brands that had our name. I went through many options but finally landed on unrld. which I think sounds way tougher and leaves a bolder statement. Our old aesthetic was heavy in classic tattoo designs. I new that if I changed the name I needed to change the design and I needed unrld. to be its own beast. My first collection under the name unrld. was the Revival Collection. It means an awakening in a community. I wanted the first thing I put out to be of quality and of elegance. Thats why most of the designs are inspired by Chauncey Bradley Ives, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. I wanted to set the right tone.

Venus T
Remember the movie Dreamers? Directed by Bernardo Bertolucci. well if you haven't let me tell you there is a scene in this movie where Eva Green comes out wearing nothing but a drape and a pair of long black gloves. She stands in front of a dark doorway and asks Michael Pitt to guess what piece of art she is. She was none other than The Venus de Milo by Alexandros of Antioch. I knew that I was creating a collection that was based on sculptures and I just had to give a nod to Dreamers. It was my favorite scene.

Angel and Idle T
These 2 next Tees were inspired by English proverbs. I honestly don't know what rabbit hole I went down but somehow I landed on that. I guess that I liked the juxtaposition of these dramatic sculptures with these old sayings. "Fools rush in where Angels fear to tread" from an essay on criticism by Alexander Pope. In other words don't be a reckless bitch. "The devil makes work of idle hands" The first version to appear in English, albeit Middle English, is in Chaucer's Melibeus, circa 1405. Basically keep your self busy and you won't get into some fuck shit.
Now onto the next...
